Current Situation:

  • A State of Emergency has been declared due to extensive flooding, resulting in significant damage to homes and infrastructure.
  • Rescue operations have successfully transitioned to recovery efforts, focusing on assisting residents in rebuilding and accessing essential services.

Shelter and Accommodation

Temporary Shelters:

These shelters are open to all individuals and families displaced by the flooding. They provide safe housing, meals, and support services.

Hotel Accommodations:

  • Local hotels are offering rooms to displaced residents, including the elderly and those with disabilities. Please contact local authorities or the shelters above for assistance in securing accommodation.

Transportation Services

Roswell Transit Free Rides:

  • Operating Hours:
    • Monday to Friday: 6:00 AM – 9:15 PM
    • Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Services Include:
    • Free rides to shelters, medical facilities, and resource centers.
    • Additional stops added to accommodate affected areas and temporary housing locations.

Important Note on Road Conditions:

  • The bridge route to Artesia has sustained structural damage. Travelers should use Highway 2 (Dexter/Hagerman) as an alternative route but should expect increased traffic and plan extra travel time.
